A Unique Action-RPG Is Saying Goodbye
A unique action-RPG that came out less than two years ago is going to be gone forever, which is very sad for PlayStation fans. On September 29, 2025, the servers for Familia Myth Battle Chronicle, a free-to-play game only for PS4 and PS5 consoles, will go down, making the game impossible to play.
Familia Myth Battle Chronicle was first released on mobile and PC in 2023 and then on Sony’s consoles in 2024. The game is based on the colorful world of Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? (DanMachi). Team Caravan and Aiming made this action-RPG, which had exciting gameplay and a rich anime-inspired world. The game had a hard time getting off the ground, even though it was only available on PS4 and PS5. Now, before its first anniversary on PlayStation, it is fading into obscurity.
The End of PS4 and PS5 Players Comes with the Server Shutdown
The PlayStation version of Familia Myth Battle Chronicle is different from the mobile and PC versions because it only works online. The game won’t be available on PS4 and PS5 after those servers go dark on September 29, 2025.
The game will be available for download on the PlayStation Store until the very last day of service, which is unusual for a free-to-play game. Usually, games that are going to be shut down are taken off of digital stores well in advance, but the developers of Battle Chronicle have decided to keep it available until the last minute, giving players one last chance to play it.

Why Is Familia Myth Battle Chronicle Going Away?
There hasn’t been an official reason given for the closure, but there are a few likely reasons: not enough players, high server maintenance costs, and poor sales on consoles. The game never really took off in either Western markets or Japan, even though it had a small following. This made it hard for it to justify staying open.
Team Caravan and Aiming said in a short statement:
“We sincerely thank all our players for their support. Thank you for understanding as we make this hard choice.”
The words are sincere, but the truth is harsh: a free-to-play console exclusive is slowly going away because it doesn’t have a long-term player base.
Last Chance to Play and Keep Your Progress
There is still time to play Familia Myth Battle Chronicle before it goes away for good, whether you are a dedicated player or just curious. Before the servers go down, you can do this:
- Download the game for free from the PlayStation Store.
- Have fun at the last events: Until September 29, you can still play the game’s events and content.
- Transfer Progress: Check to see if you can move your progress from one platform to another, like from a PC to a mobile device (there hasn’t been any confirmation yet).
When the servers close, the game’s icon on your PS4 or PS5 will be a sad reminder of what used to be, and you won’t be able to play it.

A Quiet Farewell to a Niche Gem
Familia Myth Battle Chronicle may not have been very popular, but for the small group of people who played it, its closing is the end of a one-of-a-kind adventure. It’s time to dive into the DanMachi universe and say goodbye to this short-lived PlayStation exclusive as the September deadline approaches.
